Utilizing a 2-step advanced filtration system, it effectively reduces specific impurities in water such as chlorine and calcium, resulting in a better-tasting coffee. The system works by first using activated carbon to reduce chlorine, followed by ion exchange resin to reduce calcium. This process removes up to 97% of chlorine from water.
To install the cartridge, simply open and close the hatch to place it in the holder, then insert the holder into the designated slot in the back of the water reservoir. Remember to remove the holder and cartridge when cleaning your coffeemaker. Cartridges should be replaced monthly, and a reminder feature allows you to set the dial on the water filter holder to the current month. Additional cartridge holders are sold separately.
These water filtration cartridges are specifically designed for use with the Mr. Coffee Easy Measure 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker and the Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Programmable with Dishwashable Design. It should be noted that the cartridges are filled to capacity with activated carbon and ion exchange resin during production. However, the resin particles, crucial to the 2-step filtration system, may shrink in a dry warehouse environment, causing the cartridges to appear loose. Upon use, the resin will absorb water and expand within 1-2 hours, ensuring its effectiveness.
